This Asian Soul Food restaurant is a must try! They're a BYOB place but serve soft drinks, tea and water. First come first serve seating - if you want to get in without a wait go when they first open because the inside of the restaurant itself is small. There are a couple of outside tables as well. We had the inferno ramen, chicken nuggets with the coconut sauce and the cucumbers. Everything was delicious!

This place is a true treasure! While closed on Sundays, that's quite fine since they are open Mondays when most others are closed! The seating options are modest but weather allowing sitting outside at one of the covered tables is a fantastic.

Had a wonderful meal at Nanban. The Shio Udon was perfectly savory and comforting, and the Pork Belly Bao was rich and delicious. Both were standouts. Definitely a 5-star experience for the food alone!

Nanban is what a fusion restaurant should be, creating new flavors from appreciation and care. During our stop there, we had the Shoyu, Gochujang Chicken and Biscuts, and a Chorizo Empananda. The shoyu was great, especially the broth, which was savory but not overwhelming. The empanada was also very tasty and went well with the cilantro sauce that was served on the side. The crown jewel of the meal was the gochujang chicken and biscuits, which were spicy, sweet, and savory. The best way to get this favor bomb is to get a bit of the chicken, biscuits, gochujang, and gravy on your fork. The service was also incredible, and the shopkeeper was very friendly. The atmosphere was also great, but I docked it by one because the tables were dirty when we went to go sit, but I think that had to do more with the lack of staff than the quality of the service. I hope to come here another time the next time I'm in Pittsburgh.

Nanban is super unique and incredibly delicious! Even a few weeks after going I'm still thinking about it. I came late in the evening and it was still quick service while busy. Absolutely delicious food, super out of the box fusion food. A wide range of options for if you're starving or if you just want a cheap bite to eat. Highly recommend checking this place out! // Finally came back and got a full meal, and it was great! Their chicken nuggets are just perfection. Their garlic miso sandwich was pretty good, the chicken was tender, juicy, the breading stayed with the chicken, but there was almost no spice level or flavor to the breading. I'd recommend this for people who can't tolerate spice very well, or recommend getting a sauce with the sandwich to balance it out. I really love Nanban and I will be coming back in the colder months to warm myself up!

Atmosphere: urban with a fun vibe. It’s a simple space with indoor and outside seating, plus friendly staff. Food we tried: Pork Belly Bao is flavorful, tender pork belly with a finger-licking sauce that’ll make you order two more. The Shroom Empanada melts in the mouth, and the sauce that comes with it is fresh smelling and tasting. Delicious. We had a Spicy and a Hot Sando — both of which were equally amazing. My favorite though, purely from an amazing texture and crunch on top of flavor, is the Spicy Sando. But you really can’t go wrong with either. Yes, they both had some heat, but they were both very eatable and the spice was never overpowering any of the other flavors.

What a vibe!!! The food was amazing. The texture of fresh vegetables deliciously seasoned. The chicken was cooked to perfection with a home cooked taste and the presentation of food, let’s just say it looked like the picture. The lemongrass ice tea was top notch. The service, kudos to management on hiring because your hostess was beyond exceptional. She made my group feel welcomed and she listened and made recommendations. She was a whole vibe.

First time there cause my son likes this type of food. It’s not usally for me but I very much enjoyed it. I tried my sons pork belly spicy miso ramen and the wife pork bao both very good and my ham empanadas and had a green cucumber dipping sauce that was amazingly very good and u have to get the black peppered waffle fries. They were the best waffle fries I ever had truthfully to my surprise. So if in neighborhood and in the mood for this type of cuisine I recommend stopping in and trying it.
